My Wife Calls Them Vanity Projects

In the last few weeks I completed these two pieces.  I'm really enjoying 1/72 scale in a way I never thought I would.  The detail seems much improved from what I remember, and it's been great fun.  It's meant that the kits have needed minimal aftermarket enhancements - always good.   Less has seemed like much more, although I have put in as much effort as a 1/48 model requires.  Very satisfying and highly recommended.

Very cool, especially the weathering of the red on the jet!

Phil, can you please tell me the best acrylic matt varnish? I use Vallejo right now and no matter how well I shake it, it leaves a horrible white 'dusty' residue on my completed........ TIA

Hi Ajay,
Ah, varnish. The best I've ever used is Tamiya without doubt. Vallejo would come second. I can only suggest stirring well and applying evenly. I haven't come across this dusty residue. Maybe other readers can offer advice?

Thanks for the kind remarks. How's it going with you Ajay?

Hi FalkeEins,
The Scorpion is actually the 'new' re-issue Revell in 1/72. The Academy version sounds worth looking into though. Thank you for the kind compliments. Helicopter is the Italeri Kamov Ka-52 'Alligator'. Not a bad little kit. Very straightforward and I was pleased with the look of it. I do like a helicopter, more and more these days.

Thanks, Phil. All going okay this end. I no longer have my Facebook account so am now concentrating on my blogs more these days. Art-wise I'm working on several drawings, the main focus being a training version of an RAF Vampire, and model-wise, I'm working on a 1/72 King Tiger which has turned into a 'War and Peace' type project with regards to the time it's taking me to do! haha!
