I was pleased and delighted to take on the repair job. To restore this little beauty to its former splendour will be a pleasure indeed. More on this rescue mission soon.

Damaged Dora
A beautiful Daimler Benz 'egg', gun bay all in resin, nice cockpit and overall lovely finish ....I always enjoy a chance to look at someone else's work at close quarters. There's usually something new to see or learn. Sadly, when this model arrived shortly before Christmas it was clear that a close encounter with a blunt instrument such as the floor had caused considerable damage. This was compounded by the fact that a makeshift repair had been carried out in order for the model to be sold on. The landing gear had been sheared off and a hole had been drilled through the wing to re-locate one leg, then the join filled with epoxy. Someone had meant well but not had quite the requisite skills. It was almost sacrilegious. After scraping out a large lump of epoxy from the gear bay, I was able to repair the leg and fit a new bracket made from a bit of sprue. I've also since re-painted and re-fitted the repaired parts. I've sorted the upper wing - it's filled, rubbed down, masked and awaiting paint.

I find moments like that a great paradox in my life...the distress of a model gone awry and not meeting expectations, coupled with relishing the challenge of the repair--just to see if I can pull it off...
Indeed. And repairing another builder's work has its own pleasures - returning it to the intended standard, see how invisibly you can make the changes...time will tell.
