Soviet Style

As you may or may not know, I have been a fan of Soviet aviation for many years  Take this bunch of recently completeds.

First, the Mi 2T Hoplite from Hobby Boss.  What a nice little build that was.

Second, the excellent I-16 RATA from Eduard.

And third, Trumpeter's 1/35 Mi 8 'Hip', a challenge but a highly enjoyable build.

I have many more Russian projects in the pipeline.  One of them will be the 1/48 Su-24 'Fencer' from Trumpeter - a build I have been looking forward to for, oh, let's say twenty five years!

Love the models you've build! How do you manage to let the rivets and panel lines to stand out that much (if it is not a trade secret...)? Hope to see many more to come!

Hi Jim JIm, many thanks.

As to the panel lines Frans, if you are an acrylics man, just choose a dark colour (depending on your mode). Let it down a little with water or acrylic thinners and apply to the surface with a No. 1 or 2 brush. It should all happen before your very eyes. You can also buy ready mixed washes, but there's no real need when you can do this yourself and achieve excellent results.
